Could not fault the process from the first meeting through to the service.
Your representative Kathy Csorogi was absolutely excellent explaining and planning all elements of Mum's funeral and managed it so well on the day.
This was my first time arranging a funeral, and I wasn’t sure what to expect.
From the very beginning, the team at Purslowe & Chipper made the experience so much easier during a very difficult time. Mykel was incredibly supportive, compassionate, and professional throughout the whole process. His calm and kind manner meant a great deal to me and my family.

How long have you been a funeral arranger?
I joined the funeral industry in June 2019. The timing, the feeling and an impromptu introduction with a funeral director just made it feel right. I am so pleased I made the decision to follow my heart.
At the age of 23 my father suddenly passed away and after organising his funeral I realised how important and honourable that role could be. I went on to do many things in life but I always had this ‘calling’ to do more. In my 40’s that call was strong and so I made the decision to support the community in another way, swapping from disability services to funeral services.
What do you like about being a funeral arranger?
I don’t know to put into words why the role of funeral director means so much to me. I always consider my role to be ‘the guiding light in the dark’ during such a difficult time for families as they navigate the loss of a loved one. To be their strength, to gain their trust and to have them believe in me that I will honour their loved one as if they were my own, means so much.
I have worked in a number of roles during my time with InvoCare: funeral director, location manager, development coach and regional manager. But the heart always wins and very recently I returned to the role of location manager at our funeral home in Subiaco. This location is the place that gave me my first opportunity and so I couldn’t be happier or prouder to return to where it all began, managing my amazing team and supporting our treasured local families and community.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare times?
I have to say, my spare time is precious, simple and always surrounded by my family, friends and my animals. The funeral industry constantly reminds me of what is in important in life. It’s not the material things that people remember during their final hours but the moments and memories that were made in their life time. I know and see this every day and that is what truly counts.
What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
You might be curious to know that I was such a tom boy at heart growing up. A carefree girl who rode her ponies and horses all over the hills of Southland, NZ, who could throw a decent netball pass, kick a rugby ball as good as any boy and who just loved getting out and amongst it.
My practical side of me has always served me well and having faced some of my own adversity, I am equipped and capable, strong and empathically driven to serve my community well.
What’s the most remarkable funeral you’ve ever arranged?
As a funeral director I have arranged well over 500x funerals. Some are publicly memorable, some are tragically sad, most are an incredible celebration of life and all hold the same value and importance to me. To honour your special person and to serve your family well.
What makes your brand special?
Purslowe & Chipper Funerals were two very prominent family-run businesses that InvoCare acquired a number of years back. Their names, their values and the heart of all that they offered were kept and joined together to create something special. We have been supporting multiple generations over the years and that sense of strong traditional meaning in our Perth communities is what families continue to want.
I always look forward to a chat with Don Chipper and I love to work alongside Mark Purslowe on special funeral occasions, always asking for advice and constantly in awe of how their families paved the way in WA with honouring lives.
What song would you play at your funeral and why?
You know, a funeral director should really know by now what songs they would want played at their funeral, but do you know just how many amazing songs we hear? It is impossible to choose!
What would you like to have included at your funeral and why?
For my funeral? Imagine a picture, going back to nature, of that girl on her horse, galloping across the hills during a setting sun, trying to get home in time for dinner, not a worry in her world and all the love in her heart for her horse and her dog. That can be the theme, let’s see how MY funeral director can paint my ‘ceremony’ from there.
