Meet Purslowe & Chipper Funerals in Fremantle

Purslowe Funerals and Chipper Funerals have come together and now bring more than 235 years of combined experience in serving families in our local communities. By joining together as Purslowe & Chipper Funerals we can offer the families that choose us even more choice to celebrate what life meant to their loved ones and their families.

From our South Fremantle funeral home, Purslowe & Chipper Funerals works closely with families in and around Hamilton Hill, Palmyra, North and east Fremantle, Bicton, Town of Mosman Park, Attadale and surrounding areas. Our funeral directors will help bring your family together to arrange a funeral service that truly celebrates and honours the life and values of your loved one.

Our local landmarks include Monument Hill, Fremantle Round House, South Beach, Fremantle Markets, Fisherman's Wharf, WA Maritime Museum, Fremantle Port and Fremantle Prison. We're also close to local parks such as the Esplanade Park, Wilson Park, CY O' Connor Reserve and Manning Park.

In late 2017 we refurbished the Fremantle funeral home to give families a welcoming place to celebrate what life meant to their loved ones. Our premises are co-branded and shared with Mareena Purslowe Funerals.

Wherever you live in the Fremantle region, you can rely on our funeral directors to deliver the funeral service you are hoping for.

Funeral Services in Fremantle

Every funeral service can, and should, be a unique reflection of an individual’s life. Given this, Purslowe & Chipper Funerals in Fremantle can help you create a funeral service that aligns with any theme and in any location.

For example, you may wish to hold a service at:

  • Our well-appointed on-site chapel
  • A local church (Saint Patrick's Basilica, Fremantle Wesley Uniting Church, Saint John's Anglican Church, Scots Presbyterian Church, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, St Paul's Anglican Church, Christ The King Church)
  • Another local destination, such as a community or sporting club, park or private residence

Following the ceremony, you may choose to bury or memorialise your loved one at Fremantle Cemetery which is less than 5km from our funeral home. This historical cemetery caters for our culturally diverse population, and offers burials, memorials and a mausoleum.

Facilities at Our Fremantle Funeral Home

At our funeral home, we have:

  • A spacious on-site modern chapel which can accommodate 95 sitting guests and standing room for up to 30 guests.
  • A function area which can accommodate 60 to 70 standing guests for after funeral refreshments
  • 2 arrangement rooms where you can gather your family and meet with a funeral director to discuss the funeral directors
  • A viewing room for private goodbyes with your loved one

We are happy to personalise the chapel and add personal touches to create a special funeral service as unique as the person who has passed away.

Parking is available at our funeral home with 35 parking spaces including 2 ambulant spaces. You can find additional parking at the shopping centre located across the road. Please be mindful that the parking lot next to our funeral home is a private car park and is not available for funeral parking. There are also several bus routes that stop near our funeral home if you’re looking to travel by bus.

Our People

The team at Purslowe & Chipper Funerals Fremantle are with you every step of the way, keeping you informed and guiding you through the arrangements as much or as little as you need.

Meet Susie Finch, location manager at Purslowe & Chipper Funerals at Fremantle.

What do you enjoy about your job?

Being a funeral director is the most rewarding job that I have ever had. There are so many aspects to this career, many which others don't consider.

The general assumption others make is that it is depressing and sad and that can be true at times when you are dealing with extraordinary circumstances. However, on the whole, it is a privilege to be of service to families and help them facilitate the final tribute for someone they love.

What we do matters and impacts the emotional future of families.

How long have you been location manager?

I have been in the industry for about ten years in total, and I have been a location manager for two and a half years.

What do you enjoy in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies and am the lead singer in a cover band. I really enjoy food and love cooking as well as going out to eat.

Are there any special community groups you work with or support?

Fremantle has a healthy Italian community and I am a member of the local Italian Club. One of our team members is Portuguese, so we have a great relationship with their community as well.

I also go along to Fremantle Chamber of Commerce events and have an interest in The Esther Foundation who help young women improve on their circumstance and choices.

As well as funeral directing, I have undertaken studies to become a marriage celebrant and should be conducting weddings by the end of the year.

Community Events

Purslowe & Chipper Funerals supports a range of community programs designed to help the young and old alike, as well as hosting memorial services and informational seminars.

We are members of your local social group, sporting club and church. We're as proud of the support we provide to community organisations and programs as we are of the care we provide to families.
